Manfaat dari melaksanakan puasa, diantaranya:

1.    Meningkatkan kemampuan otak

               

Puasa dapat meningkatkan neurotropik yang diturunkan dari otak, yang membantu tubuh untuk memproduksi lebih banyak sel-sel otak, dan pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan fungsi otak. Penurunan jumlah hormon kortisol pada saat berpuasa yang dihasilkan oleh kelenjar adrenal dapat membuat seseorang menurunkan tingkat stres.

2.    Membantu menjaga kesehatan jantung dan pembuluh darah

Sakit jantung merupakan salah satu penyakit yang paling mematikan. Berpuasa memiliki dampak yang baik untuk kesehatan jantung, ketika berpuasa, tubuh melakukan peningkatan HDL dan penurunan LDL yang bagik untuk kesehatan jantung dan pembuluh darah.

3.    Menurunkan kadar kolesterol

Penurunan berat badan pada saat berpuasa merupakan salah satu manfaat puasa. Sebuah penelitian di Uni Emirat Arab menyimpulkan bahwa orang yang berpuasa terjadi pengurangan kadar kolesterol dalam darah. Kadar kolesterol rendah meningkatkan kesehatan jantung, sehingga dapat mengurangi risiko terserang penyakit jantung atau stroke. Terlebih lagi jika mengikuti program diet sehat, tingkat kolesterol pun dapat diturunkan dengan mudah.

4.    Dapat berpikir lebih tajam dan lebih kreatif

Puasa dapat membuat pikiran menjadi lebih tenang dan melambat, menurut sebuah penelitian pikiran yang melambat dapat membuatnya bekerja lebih tajam. Rasa lapar ketika berpuasa merupakan masalah yang wajar apabila rasa lapar memaksa untuk berpikiran lebih tajam dan lebih kreatif.

5.    Mengurangi kebiasaan buruk

Berpuasa adalah salah satu cara yang tepat untuk mengubah gaya hidup yang tidak sehat dan pola makan buruk. Selama kegiatan berpuasa dapat menghentikan kebiasaan seperti merokok dan makan makanan yang manis.

6.    Mengontrol berat badan

Berpuasa dapat membuat tubuh untuk lebih mudah menurunkan berat badan. Tidak perlu melakukan diet yang berlebih untuk menurunkan berat badan. Dengan makan makanan secukupnya dan tetap mengonsumsi makanan yang sehat selama berpuasa.

7.    Menyehatkan ginjal

Ginjal berfungsi untuk sebagai saringan zat berbahaya dari yang kita makan dan minum. Fungsi ginjal akan maksimal apabila kekuatan osmosis urin dalam tubuh mencapai 1000 sampai 12.000 ml osmosis/kg air. Dengan berkurangnya asupan air pada saat menjalankan ibadah berpuasa, target untuk mencapai kekuatan osmosis dalam urin dapat tercapai sehingga pada akhirnya akan berdampak baik untuk kesehatan ginjal.

8.    Mengeluarkan racun dalam tubuh

Manfaat puasa juga dapat mengeluarkan racun dalam tubuh yang menumpuk atau mendetoksifikasi. Selama berpuasa, Anda dapat mendetoksifikasi atau mengeluarkan racun dalam sistem pencernaan dalam satu bulan. Ketika tubuh memakan cadangan lemak untuk mendapatkan energi, cadangan lemak akan membakar setiap racun yang berbahaya dalam tubuh.

9.    Mencegah diabetes

Diabetes dapat disebabkan karena tingginya kadar gula dan kolesterol yang terdapat dalam tubuh. Dengan kegiatan berpuasa konsumsi gula dan makanan yang berlemak akan dapat terkontrol sehingga pada akhirnya dapat mencegah diabetes dan penyakit turunannya.

10.    Menyerap banyak nutrisi

Metabolisme akan menjadi lebih efisien ketika berpuasa. Metabolisme yang efesien berarti jumlah nutrisi yang akan diserap dari makanan menjadi semakin besar. Hal ini dikarenakan terjadinya peningkatan hormon adiponectin yang diproduksi oleh kombinasi antara puasa dengan sahur, sehingga memungkinkan untuk menyerap lebih banyak nutrisi.

11.    Meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh

Pada saat berpuasa, tubuh akan lemas yang menurut beberapa orang akan menjadi lebih mudah sakit. Hal ini salah dan ternyata puasa dapat meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh. Ketika berpuasa maka akan terjadi peningkatan Limfosit bahkan sampai 10 kali lipat dalam tubuh, hal ini dapat memberikan pengaruh yang besar dan baik terhadap sistem kekebalan tubuh, sehingga puasa dapat menghindarkan dari berbagai virus.

12.    Mengatasi sakit sendi atau encok

Dengan berpuasa secara teratur dapat meningkatkan sel penetral alami dalam tubuh yang pada akhirnya akan membuat sakit encok sedikit demi sedikit menuju kesembuhan. Sebuah penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa adanya korelasi antara meningkatnya kemampuan sel penetral atau pembasmi bakteri dengan membaiknya radang sendi atau penyebab encok itu sendiri.
